About The ABC Song#
I think every nursery-age kid knows this one, and my daughter likes to sing along whenever it comes out. The ABC Song borrows its melody from Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, which comes in turn from the old French tune “Ah! vous dirai-je, maman,” so learning it hands you Twinkle as well.
This version is pitched to run from D up to B. That brings in one note off the plain scale, written here as Gb, the same pitch as F#. It never reaches the sub-holes or the thumb holes, so all six lines stay in the comfortable middle of the 12-hole ocarina, which makes it a relaxed song to play while a little one sings.
