What Lesson 4 covers#
Lesson 4 is where the exercises start to sound like music. F and G join the C, D and E from the earlier lessons, and with five notes under your fingers the number of tunes you can play jumps quickly. The drill runs three lines and 36 notes, mixing the new pair in with the old ones.
All five notes live in the comfortable middle of the 12-hole ocarina. None of them needs the small sub-holes near the bottom, and the thumb holes stay closed the whole way, so the only work is lifting fingers in order. G is the one to watch: with more holes open it can wobble, so give it a steady, even breath and hold it a moment before moving on.
