How to Play This Little Light of Mine on the 12 Hole Ocarina

About This Little Light of Mine

#

This Little Light of Mine runs on repetition. One short line comes back again and again, with only a few words changing, so by the second time through most people are already singing it without the page. That is a gift to anyone learning it on an instrument too.

On the 12-hole ocarina it is about as gentle as a song gets. The whole melody fits between C and A, six natural notes with no sharps or flats, and it never goes near the small sub-holes or the thumb holes. The words are printed under the notes, which makes it easy to keep your place. It is a good one to play while someone else sings.

This Little Light of Mine Lyrics

#

This little light of mine,
I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine,
I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine,
I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
