About The Good the Bad the Ugly#
Ennio Morricone wrote this theme for Sergio Leone’s 1966 western The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and its howling opening call is instantly familiar even to people who have never seen the film. To me it means tombstones and tumbleweeds, the music that plays when two cowboys face off with six shooters. You get the idea.
The tab is short, four lines, and stays on natural notes from C up to high D. That high D is the only note that opens a thumb hole, and nothing here needs the sub-holes. The trick is the character more than the fingering, so play the calls crisply and leave a little space between them.
